MEDIC First Aid Basic Plus

course is a combined adult CPR, AED, and first-aid training programme designed specifically for the occupational first-aid provider.

This extremely flexible programme will help employers meet OSHA requirements for training employees in how to respond and care for medical emergencies at work.

The training needs to be taken every 2 years.

The Medic First Aid Plus course covers:

  • First-aid basics
  • Medical emergencie
  • Removal of contaminated gloves
  • External chest compressions
  • Rescue breaths using a CPR mask or shield
  • Primary assessment of unresponsive person
  • CPR as a single provider including turning on an AED
  • Primary assessment for a responsive person
  • Control of severe bleeding
  • Stabilisation of a suspected head, neck, or back injury
  • Stabilisation of a swollen, painful, deformed limb

The Medic First Aid Plus Course is assessed by a written and practical assessment. Successful completion requires a correct score of 70% or better.

Upon successful completion, the candidate is entitled for a two-year licence from Medic First Aid.
