Team Leader - Middle East

Hasan Alaradi, Managing Director/Lead HSE Tutor/Consultant CMIOSH, MSc, RMST


Hasan has nearly 35 years of safety management experience in the aluminium and petroleum industries. Along with the Aston University MSc in Safety Technology and Risk Management he is also qualified in fire safety management, oil-incident management, accident investigation and radiological safety.

As well as leading RRC’s Middle East operation, Hasan works closely with David ensuring the quality of RRC’s courses and their delivery. Fluent in Arabic and English he has led the translation and subsequent delivery of NEBOSH Courses in Arabic.

Team Leader - North East UK

Zoe Neasham BSc (Hons), CMIOSH, Dip2.OSH


Zoe has been involved in health, safety and the environment for almost 20 years, having completed the NEBOSH Certificate before progressing to the Diploma - where she received the best candidate award for both Diploma Part 1 and Part 2. Today, she is a Consultant, a trainer and has been a NEBOSH examiner. Her real interest lies in human factors because she believes people can be an organisation's greatest asset - but also their greatest challenge. She is also fascinated by the meticulous detail of health and safety law and is an unashamed safety nerd.

Based in Newcastle, Zoe leads the RRC North East team which she combines with looking after her two children and training for her passion for triathlon, having completed her first ironman distance event in 2015.

Eva Ainscough Env(NEBOSH)Dip, GradIOSH, CBIFM, M Phil, MEd, BA, RSA(Dip)


Eva has spent most of her working life in the education sector both as a Teacher and as an Estates/Facilities Manager and Director in a large further education college. Since leaving her post of Director of Facilities she has been involved in tutoring health and safety courses both in the UK and abroad, and marks practical work for most Certificate courses on behalf of RRC. She is also a NEBOSH examination marker for the National and International Certificate Courses, usually marking GC2 papers.

Eva enjoys walking both in the UK and abroad and is attempting to conquer all the Wainwrights (the mountains in the Lake District). She also enjoys keeping fit, reading (detective type novels) and spending time with her grandchildren.

Andrew Ashford BSc (Hons), GDL, Cert Ed., CMIOSH


Andrew’s career started in the Royal Navy Submarine Service. After leaving, he moved into Health and Safety, successfully completing his NEBOSH Diploma in 1998. Having qualified as a Safety Advisor, he moved into Safety Management, culminating in his appointment as the global HS&E Advisor for a division of News Corp. Andrew has a strong interest in the law and qualified as a Barrister in 2007, successfully completing pupillage at chambers in Central London, where he gained significant experience of claimant and defendant work in tort and contract law.

Andrew is now in high demand to teach at all levels and to appear as a guest conference speaker around the world. As a consultant, he specialises in the development of Safety Management Systems and is a judge for the annual RoSPA Health and Safety Awards. In his spare time he enjoys international travel, especially long distance treks in the Alps, Andes and Himalayas.

Kim Batten BSc, MBA, MSc, CEng, MICE, Dip2.OSH, CMIOSH


Kim has worked in the construction industry for nearly 40 years. Initially he worked as a contractor’s site engineer, but subsequently spent most of his working life with a telecommunications company where he took on a leading specialist safety role. He's been a NEBOSH examiner on a variety of courses for over 20 years. Outside work he's interested in running, cycling, cryptic crosswords, photography, DIY and making things, archaeology and historic architecture, and supporting Southampton Football Club.

Shindo Bettley BSc(Hons), CMIOSH


Shindo has over 25 years experience in Health and Safety Management, Consultancy and Training. Having qualified as a chemist, her specialisms are in the chemical, logistics and manufacturing industries. Her vast health and safety experience allows her to work across a broad spectrum of environments. She is a Chartered Member of IOSH as well as being a NEBOSH trainer and examiner. Her passion is training and she feels a great sense of achievement when she helps delegates improve their understanding of health and safety and pass their exams. Shindo loves reading and sports: particularly walking and skiing.

John Binns BSc (Hons), MSc, MSc, MIEMA


With nearly 20 years' experience working in Environmental Management, John is an experienced environmental tutor. A regular course writer for RRC, John enjoys the diversity of Environmental Management because it covers many different disciplines and requires a knowledge of science, policy and legislation (which is sometimes quite complex). He takes a real satisfaction from helping students achieve qualifications, improve their work prospects and increase their confidence.

In his spare time, John is a keen road cyclist and enjoys watching football and rugby.

Bob Bowman MSc, MEd, CMIOSH, CMCIEH, SpDipEM


Bob has many years' experience in Health and Safety and Food Safety. He tutors on a number of different courses and, as a performing musician, has a particular interest in noise. Bob enjoys helping students get the most out of their courses and values the opportunity to instil a positive view of health and safety. In his spare time, Bob is a keen cyclist, gardener and French speaker.

Peter Brookbank MSc, Dip2OSH, CMIOSH


Peter is an independent Health and Safety consultant who advises clients in the Engineering, Manufacturing and Oil and Gas sectors. Currently Peter is involved in teaching many of the Awards and qualifications offered by IOSH and NEBOSH worldwide. He specialises in the successful delivery of the NEBOSH Technical Certificate in Oil and Gas and all Units of the National and International Diploma in countries such as Ghana, Tunisia, South Korea, Indonesia, Thailand and Myanmar.

Steve Burke BA, TechIOSH


Steve has worked in HSE around the world (primarily in the high risk sectors of Oil and Gas, Construction and Nuclear), for more than 20 years. Prior to this he was a Production Manager for a major construction company. Steve enjoys outdoor pursuits - hopefully, doing dangerous things safely. Over the years this has included climbing Mont Blanc, Kayaking across Scotland, Mountain biking from North to South Wales and participating in the Fastnet Yacht Race.



Simon has over 20 years’ experience in the Health, Safety & Environmental arena within the construction, manufacturing and service sectors. He is an experienced consultant and trainer; able to either lead, or work as part of a team. Simon is a bit of an adventurer having travelled to over 100 countries and every continent, including recently taking part in the Geographic North Pole marathon. When not travelling Simon likes to target shoot, read and scuba dive

Victoria Campion BSc (Hons), Dip2.OSH, CMIOSH, CRSP, OSHCR


Victoria has over 20 years’ experience in addressing environmental health and safety and occupational hygiene issues, including work in industrial, commercial and government facilities. She is a highly experienced trainer and presenter. Expertise includes the area of asbestos, health and safety management systems, safety audits, hazardous materials, regulatory interpretation and compliance and risk management.

Kevin Coley


Kevin has spent his entire working career involved in health and safety - although under many different guises. In particular, he enjoys construction health and safety because of the dynamic and complex nature of construction sites and the fact that hazards and risks change on a daily basis. He also holds an MSc in Work Psychology and has a keen interest in behavioural safety. Kevin is a NEBOSH Examiner and, as a tutor, he enjoys being able to simplify complex situations in order to explain how legislation is applied.

In his spare time, Kevin reads novels and historical texts and also plays war games based on the American Civil War.



Craig has been a Health and Safety professional for over 18 years, with experience in contractor management, fire safety, culture change, behavioural-based safety management systems and Top Tier COMAH chemical process safety. He has been involved with various industry sectors including engineering, mechanical, government, local authority, transport, speciality chemical, retail, logistics and manufacturing. He’s worked at Senior Management level, both strategic and operational, and is an experienced ISO Lead Auditor to various standards including British Safety Council 5* Audit, ISO14001, ISO9001, ISO25999 and ISO18001. He is also a qualified PTTLS adult trainer specialising in behavioural safety.

Jon Dawson IEng, MIET, DipNEBOSH, GradIOSH


With over 22 years' experience in Health and Safety, mainly in the construction and manufacturing sectors, Jon is particularly interested in behavioural safety - if you can get people to "think safety" then you can achieve anything! As a tutor, Jon particularly enjoys marking assignments and being able to encourage students to achieve better results, especially those that had grave doubts when they started! In his spare time, Jon enjoys cycling, the theatre and music.

Mark Dennis Dip2.OSH, CMIOSH, MRSH, MCIT


Mark has been involved in health and safety for over 20 years and is particularly fascinated by the legal aspects. He is currently an Examiner for the NEBOSH Certificate practical assessments and has been a tutor for many years. His favourite thing about the job is the wide range of people he gets to interact with and the satisfaction of helping students achieve their desired qualifications. When he's not tutoring Mark does a lot of walking, recently completing a 150-mile walk around Greater London.

Jerry Diplock BSc (Hons), MSc, MCIEH, CMIOSH, NDIP, MIFST


Jerry has been in the health and safety business for 24 years and loves solving health and safety problems in a pragmatic way. What he enjoys most about being a tutor is the interaction with the students. In his spare time, he goes walking and rides his motorcycle!

Daniel Espley BA (Hons), MSc, CMIOSH


Daniel has worked for over 15 years in the Maritime and Offshore sector as a MN Officer, DPO and Safety Officer. His specialist interests include Renewable Energy (Wind Turbine, Met Mast and Offshore Substation Installation / Decommissioning); Oil and Gas (Dive Support, ROV and Well Intervention) and communications (Deep Sea ROV, Fibre Optic Cable Lay and Repair). He is an Examiner for NEBOSH and also had a brief interim training period with Government Inspectors.

Diane Etchell


Diane is a trained Nurse who has worked in Occupational Health since 1976. She had experience of different sectors before joining the Health and Safety Executive in 1992 as an OH Specialist Inspector, before becoming a general HM Inspector of Health and Safety. Diane won the student of the year award when she gained a first class honours degree.

Allan Ferguson BA(Hons), DipNEBOSH, GradIOSH, MBIFM


Allan trained originally as a Barrister before going into industry, where he gained more than 30 years' experience in managing statutory compliance in industries such as engineering, manufacturing, printing, retail and information technology. He has been tutoring and consulting in Health and Safety at all levels for over 10 years, both in the UK and overseas. His interests include sailing, golf, music and languages.

Honey Foskett CMIOSH


Honey completed the NEBOSH Diploma with RRC in 2002 and went on to undertake a Post-Graduate Certificate in Education at Plymouth University in 2003 and the BSI OHSAS 18001 Lead Auditor course in 2008. She worked full time in Local Authority Health and Safety Enforcement for 8 years and then for 4 years in Health and Safety Management steering the Council towards OHSAS 18001 compliance standard. In 2016 Honey moved across from Environmental Health to Environmental Services and is now managing a team engaged in service delivery.

Rodger Hope PgDip, CMIOSH


Rodger has been involved in Health and Safety for over 20 years, the majority spent in Construction Health and Safety, and some time with a local authority. He really enjoys tutoring because of the opportunity it provides to influence people’s attitude towards health and safety. In his spare time, Rodger enjoys scuba diving and playing tennis.

Chris Jones BSc (Hons) Dip2.OSH CMIOSH


As a qualified ergonomist, Chris has been actively involved in a Health and Safety professional role since 1993. His training role has been continuous since 1999 during which time he has been actively involved in the NEBOSH Diploma course management and delivery. Chris’s consultancy skills include musculoskeletal evaluations and noise surveys (occupational and environmental). Away from his professional H&S work, Chris is a musician and songwriter, keen photographer and loves to travel. He keeps fit by going to the gym and completing the Guardian crossword. He admits to being a Wolverhampton Wanderers season ticket holder.

Cecile Lartigue GradIOSH


Cecile has worked in the malting industry in France and Eastern Europe for 13 years as a QHSE Manager before moving to the UK, where she worked for 8 years as a Senior Management Systems Consultant mainly on projects in the Oil and Gas industry.

Sara Lumley BSc, PHD, MIOSH


Sara has worked in Health and Safety for nearly 25 years, gaining experience through consultancy and training in a wide cross section of industries: aggregates, chemical, councils, emergency services, engineering, film, hospitals, pharmaceutical, power, retail, and training HSE staff. In addition, Sara is a NEBOSH Certificate and Diploma Examiner (Units A and B). In her leisure time most of all she loves to walk her dog and enjoys nature as the seasons change She also enjoys cooking for her family and friends, reading, listening to music and watching ballet. She also loves modern dancing with her husband and close friends.



Brian's interest in health and safety arose from his involvement in the safety issues associated with deep mining in the UK in the 1970s. Today, his favourite topic is the interpretation of health and safety legislation - knowing what organisations need to do to meet the requirements of different regulations. Brian has been a tutor for many years and is passionate about his role in mentoring students and really values the good feedback he receives at the end of each course.

His hobbies include motorcycling and his current bike can reach speeds of up to 186mph - which might seem to contradict his keen interest in safety!



Bill is a qualified electrical engineer who has been in the Health and Safety industry for over 30 years. He enjoys solving Health and Safety problems in a practical and pragmatic way. He has worked all over the world and has experienced many cultures and work locations. What he enjoys most about being a tutor is the interaction with the students and being able to make a difference. In his spare time, he enjoys cycling and riding/restoring his collection of motorcycles.

John Norton-Doyle BSc, MSc, DEH, FRSH, CFCIEH, CFIOSH


John is a Chartered Health and Safety Practitioner and a Chartered Environmental Health Practitioner with 40 years’ experience in public Health and Safety across most industries and areas. He has worked at a very senior level in several organisations and is now freelance - involved with consultancy, research, training, advisory and interim management positions in a wide range of industries. John is a published author, international trainer and consultant and a past Vice President of IOSH.

Dr Jim Phelpstead BSc, PhD, CMIOSH


Jim has been working in Health and Safety for over 20 years. He started as a Safety Officer in the food industry and then moved on through management positions into consultancy and training. His favourite topics include Occupational Health and Hygiene, as he has a background in biological sciences. For fun, he loves walking in the great outdoors. He is the proud possessor of a range of anoraks.

Dave Robertson MinstLM, CMIOSH, MIIRSM, IMaPS


Dave is enthusiastic about all areas of Health and Safety and has been working in the field for over 20 years. He is a NEBOSH Examiner - Certificate and Diploma - and has been tutoring for over 15 years. His favourite thing about tutoring is the ability to change behaviour by ensuring understanding. Dave's hobbies include clay-pigeon shooting for which he is an internationally qualified referee.

Caroline Skinner BSc, PGDip, CMIOSH, OSHCR


Caroline has many years’ experience in Health and Safety management and training, including over 12 years as a Health and Safety Inspector with the Health and Safety Executive. She brings a wealth of anecdotes to her training courses, having worked with a wide range of industries as both enforcing officer and consultant. In her spare time, Caroline enjoys painting in oils and acrylics, and plays alto saxophone with a concert band.

Frank Southall

Frank is an Honours graduate in Mechanical Engineering, with over 20 years’ industrial experience within the electrical accessories assembly sector.He has held key management and practitioner roles in operations and supply chain management, including Senior Management posts. He has held many roles in the Education sector, teaching with a central focus on operations, quality and supply chain management. Courses included CQI Certificate/Diploma, IOM Certificate, and Diploma/advanced Diploma.

Martin Speirs CMIOSH, AIEMA, CChem, MRSC, Dip2.OSH, SpDipEM


Martin has worked in Health, Safety and the Environment for many years and specialises, in particular, in environmental management. He is an experienced tutor and really enjoys interacting with students and helping them achieve their goals. Outside of work, Martin enjoys walking and sport.

Alan Springhall MSc, DipNEBOSH


Alan followed his grandfather's advice and left school at 16, subsequently completing a traditional mechanical-engineering apprenticeship. He has since notched up 30 years' experience of practical Health and Safety application in a range of manufacturing environments, including: glass, plastic moulding & extrusion, aerospace, paper and solvent adhesive processing. Alan is now an accredited tutor for the NEBOSH Diploma and most of the certificate courses.

He specialises in classroom delivery, which allows him to share his practical experience and enthusiasm for bringing the syllabus to life. He is also proud to have tutored, on three separate occasions, the best performing National Diploma candidates and likes to think that he played a small part in the performance of these top students! Alan is a keen motorcyclist; he is a volunteer motorbike rider for Northumbria Blood Bikes. In his spare time, Alan likes to keep fit by circuit training, running and competing in triathlons.



Vicki is a Health and Safety Consultant/Trainer who has worked in multiple industries offering advice and support to businesses for over 15 years. She is experienced in delivering training to all levels and auditing contractors and processes to provide positive, proactive monitoring to help prevent incidents.

Vincent is a very experienced expert Health and Safety Professional, highly committed to the development of quality Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental cultures with a proven track record of creating good safety cultures and reducing business costs whilst improving safety compliance.

Keith Vaughan GradIOSH


Keith is a passionate and experienced health and safety consultant. He is qualified and seasoned in performing Health and Safety compliance audits and providing competent person support and advice. Keith is a moderator for NEBOSH and a Facilities Management (FM) Tutor at certificate level. He is also a graduate member of IOSH. In his spare time Keith likes to go for long walks and has completed the "Freedom Trail", from France into Northern Spain, the West Highland Way and North Downs Way.

Peter Watts MSc, BSc, MIEMA


Peter is an experienced Environmental Sustainability Consultant. Peter's career includes being Head of Environment at Workplace Law, and Senior Sustainability Consultant at Turner & Townsend. He has had extensive experience in the development and delivery of professional environmental courses. This includes IEMA Associate, IEMA Foundation, IEMA Leading with Environmental Sustainability and various bespoke environmental training courses, including the development of client specific internal auditor courses. As well as teaching, Peter has designed and developed course materials, exercises, assessments and exams.

When not working Peter likes travelling, swimming outdoors, cycling and triathlons.

Dr David Wenham BSc, MSc, PhD, DipOSH, DipLaw, AdvDipEd, MRSC, CChem, CFIOSH


David has had a long and varied career in Health and Safety, spanning over 35 years, including working as an HSE inspector. He runs the MSc programme at Loughborough University and is a principal examiner for the NEBOSH Diploma in Regulatory Occupational Health and Safety. David has been a tutor with RRC for more than 15 years and really enjoys interacting with students via email, face to face, or on the phone. In his spare time, David enjoys photography, as well as theatre, travel and dog-walking.

David Whitelegg BSc (Hons), CEnv, MCIWM, MIEMA, Dip2.OSH


David's interest in the environment was piqued 30 years ago, when he was running overland expeditions through Africa. Since then, he has spent some 15 years involved in Health, Safety and the Environment, with areas of particular interest including the waste industry and heavy industry. David's favourite thing about being a tutor is being able to explain a complex subject to someone and seeing them go on to demonstrate understanding or, even better, apply the knowledge in their own workplace.

Outside of work, David is a Special Constable with the Hertfordshire Police and a keen motorcyclist.
